Sometimes a person gets bored playing the same old type of poker and needs to change things up. This is exactly the right time to play a version of poker which is called Stormy Weather. This type of poker game is a brilliant combination of the wildly popular Texas Hold ‘em and the equally popular five card draw. At first glance stormy weather bears a strong resemblance to five card draw, the one difference is that when the player is laying bets they must use one of the three community cards that have been laid on the table. This is an excellent game when you want to get together with your friends and just have a good time talking and playing cards. The maximum number of players who can participate in Stormy Weather is seven.
The dealer is going to deal four cards to every single player. After each player get their card, the dealer also deals three cards to the middle of the table, these are going to be the community cards. The community cards should be left face down.
The dealer flips the very first card up and allows all the players to see it. Based on the cards they have been dealt and that one community card, the players place their first bet or fold. Just like in Texas Hold ‘em the first player to bet is the one seated to the left of the side of the dealer.
When the first round of the betting is concluded, the dealer flips the middle card and the whole process starts all over again. The only difference this time is that it is the player two seats to the left of the dealer who kicks off the betting.
The third card is flipped and the players make their final choice. If this were a game of Texas Hold ‘em or Omaha Stakes, the players would make their final bets now, but this isn’t either of these games. Instead of placing their final bets, each player has to get rid of two of their personal cards. These should be the cards that aren’t worth anything. Players should carefully consider every single option before deciding which card to discard.
This is where the five card draw kicks in. The PokerStar dealer once again reaches for the deck, this time dealing every single player two cards to replace the cards they discarded. The players aren’t allowed to look at their cards until the last one has been dealt.
After each player has had the opportunity to evaluate their new cards and consider how they compare to the other hold cards as well as the community cards, the player needs to place their final bet.
As soon as the final bet is placed, all of the players show their hand. In addition to showing the four cards that they are holding, the player must also choose which community card they want to use. Just like with other types of poker games, the person with the best hand wins the betting pool. After the winner is determined the dealing begins again.
